A Chartered Surveyor, Denis has 40 years’ experience in property & facilities management, including, as Head of Property at British Airways, overseeing the strategic and operational management of a 10 million square foot property portfolio. He has been a Director of The ACT Foundation, Basepoint’s ultimate parent company, since its incorporation in 1998. He became a Director of Basepoint when it listed on the stock market in June 2000 and he subsequently led ACT’s acquisition of Basepoint’s entire share capital in 2005 at which time he was appointed Group Chief Executive. Since then he has led Basepoint’s growth from 10 to 32 centres supporting over 2,000 small businesses. Denis was appointed Chairman of Basepoint in 2013 following his retirement as Group Chief Executive.
Derek was for over 30 years managing director of HACAS Group, a major quoted research and consultancy company. Following the acquisition of HACAS by Tribal Group, he was director of the Treasury Services Consultancy. He is now a director of Altair Consultancy & Advisory Services Ltd and gets involved in major funding and private sector facing consultancy. Derek acts as a non-executive and part time executive director of a number of property, financial and business incubator companies. He is also Chair of A2Dominion and a voluntary board member of Homeless International, London Housing Foundation and the Theatre Royal Stratford East.
Brian joined Basepoint in 2006 as Operations Director and following his appointment to the Basepoint Limited Board on promotion to Managing Director in 2013 he is now responsible for the delivery of Basepoint’s strategic and operational plans. Brian has a diverse background in Business Management, gained within blue chip organisations in both the retail and leisure sectors. With experience in managing a diverse portfolio of multi-site businesses, Brian brings operational insight to all aspects of Centre Management.
Bob is founder and Chairman of the Management Consultancy Rise, which works entirely in the property and construction sector. Acknowledged as an industry leader in this sectors change programme, Bob played a major role in industry reform. He was formerly Founder, Chief Executive and Chairman of Mace Ltd; a company founded in 1989 to emphasise the importance of independent management roles in construction projects. Mace now has 4,000 staff and a turnover of circa £16m. Bob has been a Trustee of The Act Foundation since 2004 and has been particularly supportive of the development of the Basepoint brand, and the development of the new centres throughout the South of England.
Colin spent his early career as a commercial airline pilot but moved in to line management and for more than 30 years he held a variety of estate management and development roles for British Airways culminating in his appointment as Project Director for Terminal 5. After retiring from British Airways in 2005 he joined the Basepoint team as the Executive Director with responsibility for estates, facilities and project management matters. Retiring as an Executive Director in 2013 Colin has been appointed to the Basepoint Limited Board as a Non-Executive Director.
After completing his professional studies and qualifying as an accountant with a mid-sized London based practice Jim joined The ACT Foundation in 1997 as Finance Director and is currently ACT’s Chief Operating Officer with responsibility for the Group’s shared services including finance, HR, estates & facilities management and systems. Jim was part of the team that managed ACT’s acquisition of Basepoint in 2005.
Caroline joined Basepoint in 2002, firstly as an Assistant Manager at Southampton, before being promoted to Centre Manager in 2003, followed by Regional Manager in 2012. In 2015 Caroline was promoted to the Basepoint Board as Operations Director. Before joining Basepoint Caroline worked in hotels in various parts of England before moving to conference and events management.
Petra was a Book Keeper for the Canada House Business Centre in Eastcote when Basepoint acquired it in 2007 and at that time she transferred across and joined the head office based finance team in Windsor. She was promoted to Financial Controller in 2013, followed by a further promotion to the Basepoint Board as Finance Director in 2015. Petra previously worked in the hotels sector gaining extensive experience of customer service and support, both in the UK and Europe.
