Basepoint Newhaven’s latest Networking Hub pushes for small business growth
22 local SMEs in Newhaven recently attended the Newhaven Enterprise Centre’s free Networking Hub for an insightful talk on small business growth and taking on apprentices.
Guest speakers, Greg Macdonald and Councillor Rob Blackman from the Local Enterprise Apprenticeship Platform (LEAP), spoke of the importance of small business growth in the East Sussex area, as well as explaining the advantages of the government initiative LEAP. The initiative is designed to help businesses select the right apprentice for them and provide support on how to develop and retain the apprentice whilst expanding their business.
Tom Kelly, from Kelly Images, also spoke about improving your business profile on the internet, through the use of professionally produced corporate videos and 360 degree photography. Tom is giving SMEs a helping hand, by offering any business 20% off his services when quoting Basepoint.
Roxanne Haid, Centre Manager at the Basepoint operated business centre, comments: “LEAP’s talk was very insightful, and it’s great to know that the initiative is pushing for SME growth in the local area. It was also interesting to hear that LEAP is hosting an award for local entrepreneurs where the winning candidate will receive £3000 in training and mentoring, a great initiative for any young apprentice!”
The next Networking Hub is taking place at Basepoint’s Newhaven Enterprise Centre on Thursday 20th June from 12 – 2pm. Attendees will be provided with lunch and refreshments – all free of charge. To book a place, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 01273 615250.
