Basepoint Newhaven present local charity with cheque for over £500
The Newhaven Enterprise Centre recently presented FitzRoy Newhaven (www.fitzroy.org), a local learning disabilities charity, with a cheque for £517. The funds were raised through various activities, including Networking Hubs held by the centre and a ‘wheelchair push’ fundraiser from Newhaven to Seaford. In addition, centre management staff, residents, and staff at FitzRoy Newhaven have been taking part in a coin collection at their local Sainsbury’s in Newhaven.
FitzRoy Newhaven is a charity offering a residential, day care and respite centre for adults with physical and/or learning disabilities. They provide quality care with an over-riding emphasis on the personal development of the individual, no matter what their abilities. Everyone – staff and clients alike – contributes to and benefits from the enormous sense of community that exists there.
Roxanne Haid, centre manager of The Newhaven Enterprise Centre, comments: “So far this year we have collectively raised £4090, which has been match-funded by The Act Foundation. We’re delighted to present this cheque for £517 to our charity, who we have enjoyed supporting immensely over the past year. The funds will go towards electronic devices which will enhance communication for the charity’s residents who suffer with visual and speech impairments.”
