Unbeknown to many of our licensees, Basepoint Business Centres are owned by The ACT Foundation. Every year the profits from Basepoint Business Centres across the UK are used by ACT, who provide grants to individuals and other charities, principally in the UK, with the aim of enhancing the quality of life for people in need, particularly those with mental and physical disabilities.

In the year to date a total of £722K has been awarded against pledges and grants to:

313 Individuals
82 Registered Charities
2 Overseas Charities
24 Basepoint Centres Charities – including Autism Wessex

Some examples of Individuals who have benefited from your generous giving and support:

£400 to a 2 year old girl suffering with Bulbar Palsy. She has low muscle tone and abnormal movements and is gastronomy fed, is non-verbal and is ventilated at night. The grant was made towards a specialist P-Pod chair which will provide her with a safe and comfortable alternative seating rather than lying on the floor or sofa and enable her to interact with the family.

£500 to a 17 year old girl who has a diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy and suffers from Hypoxic Seizure. Her disability has affected her memory and her ability to obtain information which has impacted on her learning at school. The grant went towards a specially adapted laptop and software to aid her learning and education.

£500 to a 57 year old widow who was involved in a road traffic accident which resulted in her husband’s death and her suffering nerve damage from neck downwards. She is wheelchair dependent and is socially isolated and ACT’s grant contributed towards a powered hoist for her car which will enable her to go out independently.

£675 to an 80 year old lady who has severe arthritis in her ankles, knees, legs and hips. She has had recent falls resulting in a broken wrist and hip and then broken ribs and a severe blow to the head. Her particular problem is mobility in the bathroom and the grant was made towards the cost of a wet room which will allow her to retain her independence in her own home.

Plus many, many more!

We would like to take the opportunity to thank our licensees and guests who support Basepoint Business Centres and in turn the amazing work of the ACT Foundation, who as we can see above are directly improving the lives of hundreds of people year on year in the UK - amazing
