Thousands of runners swept across the Severn Bridge on Sunday 26th August as a popular half marathon event returned for its fourth year.
On 29th September, all over the UK people joined in The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning. From Bake-Offs to Cake Bingo, Tombola’s to Bring and Buy Sales there was always a theme in common…the desire to raise money for one of the largest charities supporting those having to face cancer.
The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event and has raised over £165.5 million since its start. People are encouraged to hold their own Coffee Morning or attend someone else’s. Last year £29.5 million was raised for Macmillan, this year they are hoping to raise even more.
The weekend of 12th/13th August saw the return of one of Monmouthshire’s most popular agricultural shows to Chepstow Racecourse. The Chepstow Show is an annual event which celebrates the best of the local community. The weekend was a feast of rural trades, talents and tastes.
It has been confirmed that on 8th January 2018 both Severn bridges will come into public ownership, with the tolls for these bridges coming to an end by 31st December of the same year.
