Winners of the Gloucestershire Business Awards 2017

Celebrating not just the business success stories of the county but 20 years of the event itself, the Gloucestershire Business Awards drew more than 700 guests to Cheltenham Racecourse to find out who had taken the honours this year.More than 700 filled the giant Centaur at Cheltenham Racecourse for the annual high-point on the county business calendar, this year boasting Randall & Payne as its headline sponsor."We have had many winners over the years (see below for a list) including Renishaw, UCAS, Cult Retail, MF Freeman ltd, Future Advanced Manufacture Ltd. Amazing drone pictures show Tewkesbury Mop Fair from the air

It is the annual event which takes over the centre of Tewkesbury every year and this is what the Tewkesbury Mop Fair looks like from above. According to organiser James Danter, the Mop is one of the cheapest fairs in the country, with prices having been kept the same as in recent years.That means the standard price for young children will be £2 and for teenagers and adults it will be £2.50. James said there will be a small number of exceptions, notably three special rides that will cost between £3 and £4.They will include the Star Flier, a white knuckle 100ft high ride in Spring Gardens. The two-day fair has been staged in Tewkesbury town centre for hundreds of years. Organisers say this year’s is the 407th.

Gloucestershire reclamation yard saves Calne bronze pigs' bacon after police appeal goes viral

A police appeal that went viral saw two beloved stolen bronze pigs returned — with the help of a Gloucestershire reclamation yard.Officers picked up the statue from the company’s showroom Ronson Gallery, on Tewkesbury Road, Longford, on Wednesday afternoon. It was returned to Calne and will be placed back on the High Street as soon as some minor damage to the base plate is repaired, according to Coun Trotman. A 17-year-old boy was arrested in connection with the theft and other offences. He has been released under investigation. Mr Jones said: “I had bought four bronze lions a few days before and I wanted it in a display with the lions — I am really into bronze animals at the moment.

Students across Gloucestershire will be able to see Hillary Clinton in Cheltenham

choolchildren and students from across Gloucestershire will be guests of honour at the hottest event in the county this autumn. Tickets for Hillary Clinton's visit to the Centaur next month sold out in just 48 minutes, before they went on general sale but now young people from the county will be able to attend. The University of Gloucestershire has invited students and school children from across the county to hear the 2016 US Presidential Candidate and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton speak at The Times and The Sunday Times Cheltenham Literature Festival.

Year 6 evacuation day experience

Yesterday, pupils from Year 6 in were – in support of their theme lesson – whisked back to 1940s Britain and were duly evacuated to the safety of Winchcombe. They experienced a steam train journey, met with other real evacuees and even had to seek shelter during an air raid. They were also trained to be members of ‘fire parties’ ready to put out any fires after a bombing raid. Finally it was time to head back to the future.
