Sonia Bielaszewska hopes the welcoming atmosphere at Tewkesbury Town Ladies will allow the club to flourish over the coming years. Newly-admitted to the Gloucestershire County Women's League this season, Tewkesbury are finding things tough on the pitch, but captain Bielaszewska insists the club is about much more than results. The skipper and founder of this latest incarnation of the women's section explained: "There just wasn't the provision for female football in Tewkesbury, so I contacted the club and said that I'd like to volunteer my time and create interest in a women's team.
The life of a guest staying at the Premier Inn Tewkesbury was saved after the acting hotel manager used a defibrillator. The man had been staying in the hotel in Shannon Way, Ashchurch, with his wife last month when she told staff he was poorly. After calling emergency services, acting hotel manager Dariusz Rafinski, was advised to perform CPR before then using the defibrillator on the guest before the ambulance crews arrived.
