New ways to pay in Tewkesbury and Winchcombe car parks

Paying for parking has become easier and more convenient in Tewkesbury Borough Council’s car parks following the installation of new, flexible payment meters. The new meters, which have been fitted in 10 council-run car parks across Tewkesbury and Winchcombe, will give residents and visitors the flexibility to pay with either contactless methods, such as cards and mobile phones, or with cash. As well as offering more convenience for users, the majority of the new meters are powered by solar energy, which helps the council fulfil its commitment to environmental sustainability. The meters also transmit data back to the council about car park usage and alerts officers to any faults, ensuring that repairs can be carried out promptly and maintenance visits are reduced.

Council joins Recycle Your Electricals campaign after launching new collection service

Tewkesbury Borough Council has joined the nationwide Recycle Your Electricals campaign to encourage residents of Tewkesbury Borough to take advantage of its new kerbside collection service for small electricals. Small electricals are one of the fastest growing waste streams in the UK so the council has joined over 80 local authorities across the UK to participate in Material Focus’s campaign to significantly reduce the amount of electrical equipment going to waste. Councillor Jim Mason, lead member for clean and green environment, said: “We are very proud of our new small electricals recycling collection service which has been thoroughly welcomed by residents and is going from strength to strength. We are pleased to join this campaign to raise even more awareness of the new service and make sure that we continue promoting the importance of recycling electricals - and how easy it is to do - to even more of our residents.”

The council is inviting residents to send in their thoughts on the approach the council is taking (outlined in the two documents).
